Key Largo, baby why don’t we go – 17/04/18

This morning was spent catching up on the boy’s school work and our blog.

All of a sudden it was lunch time. Off in the car we went, Pete found a casual cafe called Hobo, the food was surprisingly good.

As the weather had warmed up a little and the wind was not as strong as this morning we decided to race back and get the 1 pm departure on the Key Largo Princess, a glass bottom boat docking across the canal from our hotel.

It ended up being a great day for a boat ride and it was wonderful to be out on the ocean.  The reef was nothing spectacular (compared to how lucky we are at the Abrolhos) but I do believe it has been damaged by Hurricane Irma.

The water out on the reef was actually a beautiful blue colour, then back to murky brown towards land.

Returned to the hotel room with some relaxing for Noah and Wes (i-Pad), motorhome research for Pete and the gym for me.  Looking out onto the canals from the gym was lovely.

Just down the road to Conch House for dinner.  Lovely casual meal and a taste of Conch, a shellfish eaten down this way.  It is no longer caught local as it is endangered and protected.  It now is imported from the Caribbean. Tastes like rubber.
