Yarmouth Portland Ferry, The Cat (ME) – 06/09/18

Another early morning getting ready for our ferry trip. We need to be at the terminal and at immigration by 7.30 am.

Today we will say goodbye to Canada and return to the USA (Portland, Maine). Canada has been very beautiful and going to Green Gables was a childhood dream come true. However, I did not enjoy Canada as much as I thought I would and I am not sure why…

Don’t get me wrong Whistler, well I could go back there and spend some more time in a flash 🙂

We arrived at the terminal at 6.30 am, one of the first in line. It’s the Matheson in me.

An easy ferry check-in and boarding process.

A very relaxing and quiet (the Cat was fairly empty) 5.30-hour ferry ride, watching two movies, reading a good book and eating.

The seas were also calm.

Soon we arrived in wet Portland.

An easy USA immigration entry and we were back on the road with a half an hour drive to reach our destination for tonight, Paradise Park Resort Campground, Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

We set up camp and waited for the rain to ease.

By late afternoon we decided to risk the rain and walked down to Old Orchard Beach. Although still drizzling it was not cold and the beach still looked inviting.

As summer has officially finished and school started, it was very quiet with many shops and the amusement park only open on the weekends.

As we had all been up early, plus with an hour additional time change, we were beginning to fade fast. A walk to the supermarket to pick up something quick for dinner and a quiet night in the motorhome.

At least tonight we have cable TV which means 20 channels of nothing decent to watch, however, it is nice that it is something new.
